What an amazing night in Galena. The 2026 Galena Halloween Parade brought floats, marching bands, flaming balloon gondolas, and a whole lot of Halloween spirit to town. We were thrilled to be part of it, stepping out from Galena Christmas Company as a rather unusual family: Frankenstein’s monster, his bride, the doctor, and Igor.
There was plenty to take in along the parade route, but our favorite part was getting to play along with the crowd. A costume is fun on its own. Give it a street full of people to interact with, and it really comes alive. In Franky’s case, that came with a little smoke, too.
Watch our parade night
From morning rain to a perfect parade evening
The morning started with rain, which certainly gave us something to keep an eye on. Thankfully, it stopped by afternoon. By the time the parade rolled around, things had dried out and the temperature was about 60 degrees. We could get on with the important business of being monsters.
That change in the weather made the evening even sweeter. After a wet start, seeing everyone out together as daylight faded felt like the best possible turn of events. Galena was ready for its Halloween night.

Floats, marching bands, and fire against the night sky
The parade gave us so much to enjoy. The floats brought creativity and spectacle, while the marching bands filled the evening with music. Then there were the flaming balloon gondolas, lighting up the night with those wonderful bursts of fire. It is quite a sight when the sky becomes part of the show.
That mix is what made the night so memorable: music moving through town, costumes all around, and something new to watch as the parade passed. From the little details on a costume to the big glow of the flames, there was plenty to love.

Meet Franky, Elsa, the doctor, and Igor
Our Galena Christmas Company crew went all in. Frankenstein’s monster became Franky for the evening, with his bride, Elsa, at his side. Dr. Frankenstein and Igor rounded out the group. It was a good night to take the whole laboratory out for a walk.
The photos tell that part of the story better than we can. Franky’s towering presence, Elsa’s striking white costume and flowers, and the whole crew together made this a Halloween worth remembering. We had as much fun getting into character as we did showing those characters off.

It’s alive. And now it smokes.
We also got to try something new this year: an effect that made the monster smoke on demand. Franky already makes an impression, but a little well-timed smoke adds a whole new layer to the character. We had a lot of fun putting it to use while interacting with the crowd.
There is something especially satisfying about seeing a new costume idea out in the world. The nighttime photo catches the effect beautifully, with smoke rising around Franky against the dark sky. A very successful evening for the doctor’s latest experiment.

The crowd made it special
For all the spectacle, the part we will carry with us is the fun of interacting with everyone. Being in costume gave us a chance to be playful, share the moment, and enjoy Halloween together. The parade is a show, but it is also a wonderful excuse for a whole town to join in.

Thank you to the parade participants, marching bands, organizers, and everyone who came out to watch. You made a rainy start into a brilliant Halloween memory. From Franky, Elsa, Dr. Frankenstein, Igor, and all of us at Galena Christmas Company: we had a monster of a good time.
